There have been a lot of articles in the Gazette about this but none explaining what damages are being sought and I am at a bit of a loss.

As far as I understand it the car tax rules on these vehicles has not altered and so no loss there.

The second hand value has not dropped so no loss there.

There is no real element of safety being put at risk so no punitive damages argument.

At most there would be an emotional loss from purchasers with a wish to save the planet (who nonetheless ignored electric or hybrid cars) who feel their feelings have been hurt, which wouldn’t sound in damages.

Given the unsavoury jostling for position going on there would seem to be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow but I can’t figure out why it would be there. Can anyone enlighten me?
