I have just gone through the trauma of finding a builder to start my building extension and after 16 years in practice I am considering taking up a trade. Certainly looks more fulfilling- being handed wades of hard cash to avoid VAT, no regulation, the builder spends more time on the golf course than on site, amazing white teeth and perma tan. And I'm the mug paying for this on top of the annual PII battle, pen pushers in the SRA, lenders, unreasonable clients, slimy estate agents, conveyancing factories. I am not joking- I would certainly enjoy it more.
