So let us use me as an an example. Sole practioner, one person, not even a secretary, full solicitors firm now, never held clients' money, obviously £2m+ indemnity insurance, not that anyone has ever asked me if I had any in 20 years and never had any kind of complaint or case against me. I obviously pay a fair bit for insurance and over £1000 to the Law Society every year.

I don't really advertise for work as I have more than enough from regular clients although I have a very basic website 9which of course meets all regulatory requirements and when it is available in December will display the new compulsory logo too.

So my first question is could I stop being a solicitors firm and paying all that insurance etc (which has been enough to buy a small house with never a claim in 2 decades so a great investment that was... not) but still do a tiny bit of court work - I have about one piece of litigation every 2 years?
