The gig economy is not driven by what workers want. It is driven by what employers will give.

Employers will only give that which is of benefit to themselves. Any benefits to the worker are generally short term but the baseline mentality of workers predicts that after often unwilling acceptance, they move in time to approval of conditions and in turn offers further scope for employers to change things to their benefit and the worker's further detriment.
