It’s the gig economy full stop- no security , no employment rights, no pension, no holiday, employers avoiding all theses responsibilities- who are you trying to kid? Most lawyers I know have not had any choice - rolling 12 or 6 month contracts- BLATANT avoidance of employment law responsibilities - wouldn’t work in countries such as Germany where employment qualification laws require only 6 months service - this country is the land of insecure employment - no one can tell me that majority of lawyers like what our profession has become. I know too many who have suffered the worry and pain of paying their bills and moving from one assignment to another - a new interview / often new rejections every six months or more - periods of unemployment- exhausting - only established nearing retirement lawyers are suitable for this model - or those that are not reliant on steady income - those that no longer are reliant on secure monthly income to pay the bills - and our law society stands by and does nothing - as usual.
