It's little better in the 'magic circle wannabe' firms in the major regional centres. I worked for such a firm in Birmingham. I was recruited because, presumably, I had the requisite skill sets. But it didn't stop other partners in the firm behaving as if there was a nasty smell in the room on learning that I'd been educated at a comprehensive school and an unfashionable university. I have to say that it was a firm that I was glad to leave.
