I don't think any reasonable member of the professions objects to reasonable security searches, but it's the discretion of who gets searched and who doesn't that irks. I have been stood in queue while cps, police officers RSPCA officers, probation, cleaners and even students on a court visit are waved through. Prosecution witnesses enter via a different entrance and (despite their understandable emotional investment in proceedings) are not searched. Far from us moaners setting ourselves above the rest of the public, it's the fact that just about everyone gets in without a check unless you are Joe Public, defendant, or lawyer. Anyone vaguely connected with the prosecution or enforcement? Free pass.
