I presume that it is not inappropriate for me to accept instructions from a client to instruct the barrister most appropriate to the nature of the instructions. Appropriateness might include client/counsel empathy. Whilst I wouldn't aver that this might extend to race, certainly I can see why, particularly from the client's perspective, this might extend to sex. Would this be any more inappropriate than me deciding, say, to send my daughter to an all girls, rather than a mixed sex, school?
