Concerns about the fairness of Qatar? Gosh.

No, wait, hang on. I've just realised that the opening lines of Wikipedia's page entitled 'Human rights in Qatar' is as follows:

"The state of human rights in Qatar is a concern for several non-governmental organizations. Sharia law is the main source of Qatari legislation according to Qatar's constitution. Flogging and stoning as forms of punishment are legal in Qatar due to Sharia law. According to Human Rights Watch in June 2012, hundreds of thousands of mostly South Asian migrant workers in construction in Qatar risk serious exploitation and abuse, sometimes amounting to forced labo[u]r."

In Qatar, you will be flogged if you have sex outside marriage.

In Qatar, sentences of life imprisonment have been handed down to poets who dare to criticise the government.

In Qatar, political organisations are banned, as are trades unions.

Freedom House publish annual rankings of freedom on a scale of one to seven, where one is free, and seven is not free. Qatar improved from seven to six in 1999, and has remained there ever since.

It comes as no surprise at all to read again that Qatar remains a brutal, undemocratic, repressive regime, and that its legal system is also brutal and repressive.
