At the start of my career the most senior partner at the firm told me to always ask someone and they will either give you the answer or not give you the answer and if it's the latter it's because they are scared you may end up knowing more than them/feel threatened.

As a result of this whenever a junior member of staff now asks a question i take time to explain the answer to them. It was a pleasure to start my career in that sort of environment but like others i have come across an number of cults in law firms since then.
