This has been an ongoing issue for many years. During my 12 years on Council and my presidency of 2016/17, although I was able to introduce radical structural and governance reforms to CILEx, I was constantly facing professional snobbery from the rest of the profession. Solicitors have nothing to fear from parity and actually could benefit significantly from having a more diverse base of lawyers to deliver real choice to consumers.
