As someone who qualified as a CILEX first, I can understand "why" Legal Execs want parity: they do not have the level of recognition from others in the industry or the public.
However, now having qualified as solicitor, I can see the difference in the training is enormous - The LPC and training requirements are much more thorough. Having pursued both (and originally with no intention to qualify as a solicitor) I believe the level of training should have some parity first. There is no doubt that many are fantastic lawyers, but parity across the board is a worry when there is such difference in training standards.
