I find it astonishing that non-graduate CILEX fee earners are permitted to become District Judges. I find it even more astonishing that CILEX’s leadership consider their members suitable for even more senior judicial posts. You can’t draw realistic comparisons between graduate lawyers (barristers and solicitors) and self-styled lawyers who are, in reality, paralegals. If CILEX members want professional recognition, they should quality as lawyers properly so-called. I work with CILEX members and no disrespect is intended, I am merely stating facts.
