Hmmmm…. Mixed feelings here.

There are a lot of occupations where people start on poor wages to learn the trade/craft while being provided with support and a steady (albeit often meagre) income. It seems like a choice, like with an apprenticeship in joinery or plumbing, where you don’t have to take it, and it will deter some people, but generally the people who go for such roles are the people who genuinely want to do them and receive the benefits in the longer term.
