It's a tough market. It always has been. We have also been the victim of law firms going to the wall without paying us (despite them having trousered our fees for themselves) and victims of law firms who don't pay on time / as per terms as a matter of course. However, we still have to pay our service providers, staff, VAT and other taxes. It would of course be more profitable if we didn't but that's not really a viable option when running a business.

So whilst I will always have sympathy for the staff of firms who hit hard times such as this, I also sympathise with the service providers who have undertaken work and not been paid for their troubles. They have staff and other outgoings too.

Moral of the story : Pay your taxes, don't be greedy and run your business like a business.
