What really concerns me is the effect that this decision is going to have on the future actions of both trainees and solicitors when they find themselves in a situation like this. As a commentator has said, it encourages cover ups rather than disclosure. It also encourages the real culprits to continue to commit serious misdemeanours if not crimes, knowing that any employee of theirs is going to be too scared to report anything in case they find themselves implicated directly or indirectly in what has happened and then fined and struck off.
