Stop bleating. I used to be a criminal defence solicitor. The system has to change. Those at the supposed top of the tree (judges and barristers) have created a system that doesn’t perform well enough and does not do what our society can rightly expect of it. It has been a jolly game for them, with the primary aim of getting as much cash out of it as possible, whilst spinning intellectual arguments about why more money must be pumped in and everyone simply must obsess about miscarriages of justice, the “law” and yet entirely overlook that the system is meant to serve our society for the greater good.
I accept those at the supposed bottom of the tree may well be dedicated and sincere and probably don’t make much money out of it, but they should not seek to perpetuate the present failings of the system.
