Clearly, if the CPS is as badly run as the 'senior counsel' who emailed Chris Henley QC says it is, it needs better management. If so it will have to pay proper salaries to get it. Those will need to include pension schemes etc., the things which go with a long term post and continuity.

AsGerald Collins and Ian Palmer have pointed out, this is a quite different job from being a criminal advocate, however forensically able. It requires a completely different skill set, which will only have been developed having followed a completely different career path.
