The SRA/SDT are sending out an appalling message here. If you are junior employee and roped into dishonesty by your superiors, then if you report it - then you will be treated in the same way as the senior people who instigated it.

It defies any sense of justice and pragmatism. Just imagine it:

"Mr Prendergast, you've charged £15,000 on this probate file of mine, but we haven't done any work since the last bill."
"Make a fuss, and you will get struck off as well - I've got you down as the fee earner handling the case."

The SRA/SDT need to enter the real world. If government bodies can offer Queen's Evidence deals, then the least they can do is to show common humanity and decency to those doing their best in intolerable circumstances.
