Have a read of the judgment, 17.18. In part, the JR failed precisely because this is a community that want the very opposite of being isolated from each other. This has a lot to do with the requirements of living an Orthodox life (proximity to synagogues, Jewish schools, kosher shops, living within the eruv, 'safety in numbers' etc.).

As for the being isolated from other groups, you touch on an interesting and controversial issue. The Orthodoxy is a culturally and intellectually rich community, but not one which particularly seeks proximity to other, non-Orthodox groups. Respectfully, the word 'ghetto' conjours an unhelpful recent historical persecution, and would be resisted by those within the Orthodox community who actively seek to do nothing more than to Iive their faith and their culture, surrounded by those who share that faith and culture.

All of which is to say, while your post is prima facie completely reasonable, perhaps with - dare I say - a greater appreciation of the matters under discussion, you might not have come to the same conclusions, or with such firmness.

I don't know why I feel it important to state that I am not Jewish, but that I have had personal and professional experience of some of what I have written about.
