In those cases, the relevant authority is BPE Solicitors -v- Hughes-Holland [2017], overruling some earlier cases and confirming that a claimant DOES have to prove that any losses are actually as a direct result of negligent information or advice, and overruling earlier cases which provided that the negligent solicitor could be lumbered with the whole loss of value simply because the negligent solicitor had provided information which may have led the lender to withdraw from the whole transaction.
