I've been saying for years that it's utterly absurd that solicitors and barristers should have to go through this ridiculous and potentially humiliating security process. It slows down an already lethargic process, wasting the time of both the court staff and other people trying to get into court.

I have therefore written on two separate occasions to the MoJ suggesting that as officers of the court we should be able to apply for and be granted a pass of some sort, so as to bypass security in the same way as court staff are allowed to do.

Recognising that the court system is (allegedly) starved of cash I even suggested that local lawyers might be willing to contribute to the cost of such a procedure.

It will come as no surprise to hear that I never even received a response.
