No evidence that Mr Ross is a lawyer in the sense that Law Society members would understand that word to mean.

Lots of evidence that Mr Ross has shareholdings in various ventures that aim to make a killing by selling products to people who should (but don't) know better - i.e. the Ministry of Justice / HMCTS.

Indeed even the idea that MoJ would pay Mr Ross to use the iCan SmartSettle ONE, rather than just pay iCan themselves shows how ridiculous this whole online court rubbish is.

And that presupposes that an iCan, or any other "online dispute resolution" platform that basically says to each party "how much to you want to give / accept?", and then replies "no sorry, that's not enough / too much. Please try again", is a "good thing". Which it isn't.

If I have legal rights, then the job of the legal system is to vindicate them. If I do not, then the legal system should not. By all means allow parties to settle on their own terms, and encourage them to consider doing so. But the snake oil Susskind crown want to enforce a legal system which tells somebody they MUST try to settle, and then uses an online tool which tells people who do not owe money that they must pay it, (and must continually increase the amount they are prepared to offer until such time as agreement is reached). Or use to use an online tool which tells people who do owe money that they need not pay it (and only require them to pay whatever turns out to be the lowest amount that the claimant has been forced by the online tool into accepting).

If what the buzz-word-ees of the day wish to sell comes to pass, then there will be no adequate functioning legal system at all.
