reading some of the comments here, I tend to agree with the article that understanding of GDPR is poor:-

Utter twaddle.

"Perhaps there may be a soupcon of an issue if you have told your clients that you rely wholly on their consent for GDPR. But you are a solicitor are you not? And you are acting for your client under a contract? Thought so. Ergo you are have a contractual legal basis in GDPR. "

surely the point of the article relates to how you advise your client on the lawful basis for processing data within the context of their business? It is nothing at all to do with your own contract with them
