Sadly, the SRA seems to be no more than a modern day Witch Finder General. Judging from the comments being made on this thread and many others, it is losing, if it has not lost, the confidence and respect of the profession. I am (thankfully) now within months of coming to the end of my 40 year plus legal career. We are a principled profession not entirely governed by self-interest and personal gain. Sometimes, because we are human, we fall short. In general we are not bad. We do not need publicly humiliated by our regulator at every opportunity. We do not treat persons charged with criminal offences like this. We treat them with understanding and compassion. We deserve much better than the vindictive holier than though SRA as our regulator.

SRA, there are some very wicked solicitors out there who need to be hunted out and dealt with severely.I was once employed by one who almost killed me. Leave the majority of your 'victims' who are guilty of no more than minor transgressions or momentary lapses in judgment - or deal with them some other way. Act in a more proportionate manner.
