At 8.22 - but who audits the file for you? This is clearly an issue that we as a profession must address and your approach is interesting but I am curious as to potential issues it could create; what if the client says they don't want the file but won't give you instructions to destroy it? Has that ever happened? Do you still keep an electronic copy? Are you talking about destroying at the end of the retainer rather than after a period of storage? I assume you are as you say you don't have any storage and, as such, how do you view the possible need to refer to the file as evidence in the event of a claim? Even if an auditor confirms no risk, as far as they are concerned, this would not necessarily preclude an attempted claim surely?
