This is what I find a rather frustrating with so much categorisation; One day it’s gender (in)equality, then it’s BAME, the LGBTQ… If the point is that all people should be treated fairly, with equal opportunity, without being treated with any prejudice, then why isn’t it just equality for all?

I’m completely for treating people properly; as people. I’ve also been very grateful to see the outcomes of lots of research around mental wellbeing yesterday, as it has helped me make changes at work to support my colleagues which has received very positive feedback.

But if I only focus on one group, like BAME, they I don’t feel like I’m considering gender diversity & wellbeing or LGBTQ diversity & wellbeing. Maybe I’m being daft, maybe it makes it more “bitesize” when talking about larger groups of people than I work with, but it just baffles me that we (hopefully) all agree that no one should be treated differently for their religion, gender, romantic attractions etc, so why this categorisation?
