In reply to anonymous at 14:53, the current draft SI applies to all applications made after the new rules come into force. This is in contrast to all previous fee changes, which only applied to deaths occurring after the change in fees. I understand that both Labour & the Lib Dems plan to ask for changes to be made to the rules (on the assumption that the government insists that fees will increase) so that they only apply to deaths on or after the changes come into effect. There again, we could have a repeat of 2017 when the previous planned changes were dropped due to the snap General Election. Watch this space!
