So the landlord missed 3 payment deadlines:
(1) the judgment debt, payable within 14 days
(2) the costs awarded under the default costs certificate after failing to serve points of dispute to the bill of costs
(3) the extended deadline to pay £10,000 on account of costs as a condition for being allowed to serve points of dispute out of time (i.e. more than a YEAR after the default costs certificate, having not paid a penny in the meantime).

All this on top of having unlawfully evicted his tenant in the first place.

I'm afraid it is Males LJ who needs "a sense of perspective". The "delay of a few hours which made no practical difference whatever" is anything but. It's the landlord trying to take advantage of a system that makes the enforcement of orders an expensive and drawn-out process and gives defaulters countless opportunities evade justice.

As an aside I wonder how much leniency would be on display by this landlord if one of tenants fell behind with his rent, never mind by a whole YEAR!
