A number of firms invest in sophisticated IT-based case management systems but then don't modify their use of paper. For example, they don't develop procedures to get incoming paper scanned and into the system which is, therefore, only telling an incomplete 'story'. Consequently, paper matter files are still relied on which stay in offices when the people in control of them don't. Firms which have successfully addressed the usage of paper are able to offer truly flexible working.
