I think the LeO could do with employing the services of the MoJ/LAA spokesbot. Consistency in the message is key!!
The LeO is unnecessary as is the Legal Services Consumer Panel as is the Legal Services Board. All unnecessary.
The whole point of these quangos as evidenced on a daily basis by the SRA was to break up the legal services industry to allow non lawyers the opportunity to provide legal services thus driving down prices and allowing consumers to obtain legal advice on the cheap (an alternative to Law Centres, legal aid and a properly resourced advice network). The problem is the ABS new world vision has not really materialised. The SRA (dont you just love a trier) has done all it can to deregulate and encourage alternative models of delivery yet fails to acknowledge that the experiment has failed. The LSB is just as deluded.
I really is time for a Royal Commission of our Justice systems to review how they are structured and financed and to examine how access to justice is assured and to consider Regulation and what it should look and feel like.

The SRA is a joke. The LeO is a joke. The LSB and the Consmer Panel are jokes. And none of this is funny. We and our clients and potential clients and those who need legal advice deserve a lot better.

The problem remains, as with HMCTS so called Reform Programme, that legal professionals are excluded from any proper discussion of the direction of ravel and we are only ever consulted on the pre-determined journey. Any criticism of the direction of travel is derided as self-interest pontification and ignored whilst millions is spent on PWC and other consultants.

But look around dear Regulators, MoJ and HMCTS and observe the mess you have created. Stating things will get better eventually is an admission of failure.
