I have always resented the diversity questionnaire but I have to say, as a gender dysphoric non-binary myself, I welcome this development. Biological sex ('assigned at birth') is not as relevant in the monitoring for inclusivity as the gender with which individuals identify. For 98% of the population, the two are the same, but for the 2% of us who don't fit that box, being given the chance to identify as another gender (and additionally to give us the chance to identify as 'other' - we don't need the 71 options) is immensely important for us. Believe me, nobody would choose this if it wasn't core to their identity. Everyday is a struggle, not least because those who haven't experienced our perspective find it almost impossible to understand. Cute, sarcastic comments do not help.
