I provide my gender on these forms because the bushy beard I have sported since I was an articled clerk in the seventies is a bit of a giveaway. But I won’t answer questions about my sexual orientation or my religious beliefs if any, and I will only fill in Race if there is a free text box where I can put Human.

I do not care if people like me make the figures useless. If that makes me a dinosaur I will be a Triceratops, please.

I was very pleased when the inquisitive question about sexual orientation was asked in my office and 90% of us “preferred not to say”.
