Yes, @ 1504. My only reason for tepid opposition to the death penalty is the small but surprising number of times we have got it wrong. Why should I be compelled to pay taxes for the habitation and feeding of those convicted, let's say, 3 times for any crime, despite the money I have already paid for their previous incarceration, including well-designed attempts at rehabilitation? Why should their mental inability to control their behaviour be any excuse?
If we could in future, as is not unlikely, be able to 'read their minds' electronically, and find that their antisocial behaviour is not changeable, why should they be supported by public money, rather than charitable donations from those who prefer to support their survival, rather than that of those innocent people, inc children, who cannot earn enough in the gruesomely unequal society maintained by the politicians whom the majority of electors vote for?
