Unfortunately some people do take their cue from Kicky Shrimp, and it rarely turns out well. We recently had a case where a local businessman died leaving a home made will which he had made before flying on holiday to Cyprus with his wife. He made the will in case there was an air crash, in which event he foresaw that his wife would die too so there would be no point in including her as a beneficiary. He died some twenty years after the Cyprus holiday but without altering his will, which left everything to his seven children. A deed of family arrangement was eventually agreed but only granting the wife an equal share with each of the children, not the whole estate as the testator would surely have intended. Much grief could have been saved for the sake of £150 for some professionally drawn mirror wills.
