Summer holidays are here, and once again Obiter faces the shame of not quite having got round to sitting down in front of the Olivetti to churn out a bestseller. Time to start thinking ahead, clearly - and Obiter believes readers should be doing the same.

To get you stimulated, Obiter is offering a prize of a night for two at the brand new Apex Temple Court Hotel, central London, for the best suggestion of a title and subject for next summer’s guaranteed legal bestseller. You could emulate the late Alan Coren’s Golfing for Cats formula, or perhaps go for something provocative like Richard Susskind’s The End of Lawyers? (Obiter understands that Well I Wasn’t Too Far Off, Was I? is in preparation for 2013).

Or perhaps something Grisham-esque?

Apex Temple Court Hotel is a brand new hotel situated just off Fleet Street in one of the most attractive and historic areas in London. The hotel offers a fusion of contemporary design and innovative technology with luxurious rooms and public areas, with complimentary Wi-Fi throughout.

Email your ideas to obiter@lawsociety.org.uk by 31 August.

(Terms and conditions: prize includes one night B&B for two adults sharing a twin or double room at the Apex Temple Court Hotel. The prize must be taken within six months of the prize voucher valid from date. No cash alternative.)
