The Law Society took a delegation of lawyers to Beijing last week to promote the English legal system and the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme, which allows international lawyers to qualify in England and Wales.

The trip involved a conference where the Law Society’s Stephen Denyer (pictured), alongside speakers from firms including Hogan Lovells, CMS and Eversheds spoke to an audience of around 130 Chinese lawyers.

It was part of a push by the Law Society to help its members access opportunities in China by linking up with leading Chinese lawyers.

The trip coincided with chancellor George Osborne’s visit to the country, where he encouraged closer business ties with the UK.
