International firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, which has more than 50 lawyers in the City, claims it will become one of the largest law firms in the world after its partners voted to admit 227 partners from Boston practice Bingham McCutchen.

The Bingham partners are expected to join by the end of the month, after which Morgan Lewis will consist of nearly 2,000 lawyers in 28 offices in the US, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Bingham McCutchen currently has 14 offices. Services in the London office include financial restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions.

For the 10th consecutive year in 2014, Bingham McCutchen was named one of Fortune magazine’s ‘100 Best Companies to Work For’, one of only six US law firms to make the list.

Morgan Lewis currently has more than 1,600 legal professionals in 26 offices. It provides litigation, corporate, transactional, regulatory, intellectual property, and labour and employment services.
