Manchester full-service firm JMW Solicitors today reported a 7.5% rise in profit per equity partner in 2015/16 as revenue, including from instructions received online, grew strongly. 

In the year ending 30 April, provisional profit rose 13.3% year on year to £4.3m, while revenue was up 16% to £22.5m. PEP has risen from £400,000 last year to £430,000 this year.

‘The recruitment of lawyers and those with business development skills and good client relationships has been instrumental in the profitable growth of JMW.’

Revenue from instructions received online rose 17% to £1.5m, while fees from the solicitors’ referral network Lawshare rose by 50% to £1m. The number of staff at the firm increased from 280 to 320. 

The commercial litigation department generated revenue growth of 55% while the private client team posted a 47% increase in revenue. Revenue was also up by 43% in the business, crime and regulation department, 42% in the commercial property department, 23% in clinical negligence and 13% in family, the firm said.
