Obiter felt distinctly over-dressed last week when the Gazette’s crew arrived suited and booted for the official launch of new-kid-on-the-block Rocket Lawyer UK.

After setting off from dear old Chancery Lane, we felt as if we had travelled through the space-time vortex as we entered the Google Campus in East London’s Tech City to see what The Future looks like.

Quickly discarding our ties, we tucked into sparkly cupcakes and played table football while Rocket’s whiz kids, led by Mark Edwards (pictured), a one-time computer academic formerly with LexisNexis, outlined their plans for UK domination.

It was all a far cry from most events Obiter manages to blag its way into. But there was one reassuringly familiar element: the grumbles from press colleagues about lengthy speeches detracting from good drinking time.
