Registered Charity No: 516457 (England & Wales).

The Goodricke Appeal Fund

The Fund was established in December 1983 by an Ear, Nose and Throat Consultant at York Hospital. Several ENT Consultants and doctors have had a very close connection with the Fund ever since. They could see the need to provide the latest electronic equipment to help deaf children as soon as they were diagnosed. Unfortunately, such prompt help was usually not available through the Education Authority or Health Service.

Administration of the Fund

Historically, the Fund has had very low administrative costs and so virtually all your donation will directly benefit deaf and hard of hearing children and young people. The Fund is run by volunteers, including doctors, lawyers, accountants and those with direct experience of the deaf community.

Support for the Fund

Please ask your solicitor to name the Fund in your will.

You can also make a gift now by BACS to our Lloyds Bank account 30-99-99 number 01083708 or by sending us a cheque payable to ‘The Goodricke Appeal Fund for Deaf Children’.

Your Kind Gift

Your kind gift will be very carefully used by our Management Committee to, as our Constitution requires, ‘… relieve, educate and advance in life, deaf and hearing-impaired children and young persons under the age of 30 in North Yorkshire, York (and neighbouring areas in the discretion of the Committee) in particular by the provision of electronic apparatus to assist such children and young persons in their disability.’
