Registered Charity No: 1141216 (England & Wales).

The London Music Fund is an independent charity whose Patron is the Mayor of London. Winner of ‘Outstanding Musical Initiative’ at the 2021 Music & Drama Education Awards, their mission is to enable young Londoners from disadvantaged backgrounds to have access to high-quality, sustained, progressive music education. Their vision is that every child who demonstrates significant musical ability, enthusiasm and commitment to learning an instrument should be given the opportunity to develop their potential.

The ability to make music brings its own creative rewards. Furthermore, from increased academic attainment to improved behaviour and social skills, there is growing evidence that learning a musical instrument enriches a young person’s life. These benefits radiate through that young person’s family and community.

The London Music Fund has three programmes: a four-year Scholarship award (for children from low-income families who cannot afford to continue learning once free tuition in primary school ends); Partnerships, which are wider collaborations enabling young musicians to learn and perform alongside professional musicians; and Amplify London, a programme in partnership with YouTube Music supporting grassroots music organisations, working with young people in some of London’s most disenfranchised communities.

Since 2011, the London Music Fund has invested over £4m in funding to music education in London, awarded 832 four-year Scholarships, funded 75 Partnerships and reached 60,000 people through these projects.
