Developing the mental health researchers of the future
We fund research to prevent, treat and diagnose mental health problems and develop the next generation of researchers. We fund research that has the potential to make a real difference to the lives of those with mental health problems and train the mental health research workforce of the future ensuring that our investments have a sustained impact on future mental health.
Advances in many areas of science mean that there has never been a better time to research how we prevent and treat mental health problems. Our intention over the next 5 years is to build on nearly 15 years of experience to leverage these advances and increase the amount of high-quality research and training we can support.
There is a need to attract the most talented students and to place them in excellent training environments. For this reason, we focus most of our funding on PhD scholarships so that we can help build the next generation of mental health researchers, as well as funding impactful research.
We are proud of the fact that we are an entirely volunteer led and driven charity. Over 95% of our donations fund research. This sets us apart from other mental health charities.
