Registered Charity No: 1000388 (England & Wales)

The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) has been leading the way in specialist education since 1872 and celebrated our 150th anniversary in 2022.

We are a residential College of further education, supporting young people with sight loss, aged 16-25 years. The College underpins academic and vocational subjects with training in mobility, assistive technology, Braille and specialist skills for life such as money management, cookery skills, laundry and shopping.

But more than this, we encourage achievement beyond the classroom – developing self-confidence, personal independence and communication skills, vital for every student’s future.

Our young people access a wide range of extra-curricular activities including The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, the nationally renowned RNC Sports Academy (our Blind Football Team have won the FA Disability Cup several times in recent years) and recreational hobbies.

Our students go on to university, into employment and volunteering in their own communities. Most importantly, they become independent and confident adults who achieve extraordinary things.

The RNC experience is unique, but we need ongoing support to maintain and improve campus facilities and equipment, and to offer new and fulfilling enrichment opportunities.

The charity raises additional funds every year to support its work and gifts in Wills are a very important part of our unrestricted income, allowing us to direct funds where they are most needed to support our students.
