The Labrador Rescue Trust

The Labrador Rescue Trust was founded in 1988 by John Cowell MBE, together with a group of fellow Labrador enthusiasts. The Charity was established with a clear purpose: to find suitable new homes for Labradors in need, whether they have been ill-treated, are unwanted, or require a new home for any other reason. This has been, and will continue to be, the mission of The Labrador Rescue Trust.

Core Values

The core values of TLRT are to promote and support the ongoing physical and mental welfare and the overall wellbeing of Labradors. This may involve actively rehoming a dog or working with owners to resolve challenging situations in order to achieve the best possible outcome for the dog.

Supporting Labradors

The Charity is an entirely independent organisation, funded through the generosity of public donations. Legacies play a vital role in sustaining the work of The Labrador Rescue Trust and are a lasting way to show love and compassion for Labradors in need. These generous gifts enable us to continue rescuing, rehabilitating, rehoming, and supporting Labradors, including those with ongoing health conditions, cared for through our Supported Adopted Dog (SAD) Scheme. This Scheme ensures those Labradors have lifelong care and receive the treatment, medication, and specialist support needed to live happy, comfortable lives. Every legacy, large or small, makes a lasting difference — helping to secure a brighter, safer future for Labradors.
