The attorney general successfully appealed the sentence of six years and four months handed to Steven Hearl for rape. He was jailed last November after he was linked by DNA to the rape of a teenage girl in Worcestershire in 1987. Referred to the Court of Appeal as a potentially unduly lenient sentence, Hearl’s sentence has been increased to eight years in prison. Watch the broadcast, in association with Sky News.
