Registered Charity No: 802373 (England & Wales).
Established in 1981 and registered as a charity in 1989.
1 person in 100 suffers with Epilepsy. It can affect family, friends, education, employment prospects and social activities. In many cases a driving licence has to be forfeited immediately.
We are committed to giving free, practical and direct help to anyone affected by this sometimes devastating condition.
We are able to give comprehensive support and assistance to people with epilepsy and their families. We have a large supply of free information on the subject. This includes leaflets, books, DVD’s and personal experiences. Our telephone Epilepsy Helpline is answered by a person who has personal experience of the condition.
In addition, our trained Counsellor is in attendance at Outpatient Epilepsy Clinics to give guidance, encouragement and information on numerous and varied aspects of the condition. We are also now in attendance at a dedicated Paediatric Epilepsy Clinic.
Educating the public and professionals is a major issue in reducing the stigma and ignorance of epilepsy.
As all of our members are unpaid volunteers, all funds raised go directly to those affected by epilepsy, or to nationally recognised research projects.
