What drives the SRA? Is it the desire to be praised by the Legal Services Board for doing what the LSB says ought to be done? Or is it the desire to perpetuate bureaucracy?

In my small two-partner practice with 11 staff I feel strangled by the COLP/COFA requirements; bemused by the continually changing requirements to get another practising certificate for the solicitors in the firm; amazed that I must collect and publish diversity data by asking questions of colleagues I would not ask of a friend; and frustrated by the inability of the SRA to police the profession so that ethics and conduct are given a priority.
