Registered Charity No: 214440 (England & Wales).
The FBA, founded in 1929 and a charity since 1966, aims to promote the understanding and investigation of the biology of animals and plants found in freshwaters. We also promote the sound and sustainable management of freshwater ecosystems and resources.
Freshwater science is at the heart of what the FBA does. By supporting the FBA you will help inspire enthusiasm for freshwater biology in young people and help us to support the next generation of freshwater scientists through teaching, training, mentorship and studentship awards.
Your help will enable the FBA to deliver essential scientific projects to protect endangered species and monitor long-term trends in freshwater ecosystems. This work will help us protect our precious freshwater ecosystems from the mounting pressures they face in the modern world.
Your support will also help the FBA to provide targeted grants and awards to stimulate research in this vital field.
Our precious freshwaters are an ecological jewel in the crown. They can only be properly protected when we understand how they work. Your support will help the FBA engender enthusiasm, fund research, and generate the sound evidence base upon which properly informed management can be based.
