A solicitor who was jailed after being caught with more than 12,000 indecent images of children has had his firm shut down by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

In a decision published on its website today, the SRA said it had intervened in Guildford-based Richard Pietrowski & Co.

According to the sole practitioner’s website, the firm offers ‘expert advice and representation in legal matters within various disciplines’.

Pietrowski, who appears on the roll as Ryszard Witold John Pietrowski, was jailed for 20 months by Guildford Crown Court (pictured) last Thursday.

The 61-year-old had pleaded guilty to the distribution of indecent images of a child and three charges of making indecent photographs of a child.

Of the 12,086 images seized, 2,389 were in the most serious category, the court heard.

Pietrowski, 61, committed his crimes over a six-year period. The images were discovered after police tracked his IP address following peer-to-peer sharing.

According to local newspaper website Get Surrey, the court heard Pietrowski was a ‘lonely man’ who was not in a relationship and had not had a relationship with another adult.

He turned to the use of pornography to fill the void and this gradually slipped into child pornography, the court heard.
